About
About ChemTable
An interactive periodic table for chemistry students: 118 element pages, charts of the periodic trends, comparison tools, quizzes and 16 study guides on reading the table itself.
One dataset behind every tile
Every element page, chart, comparison and quiz question reads from a single element file in this repository, holding each element's mass, electron configuration, physical and atomic properties, isotopes, uses and discovery. The file is the site's own compilation and does not name an outside source for its values.
Not every number in it is a measurement. From fermium, element 100, upward no sample large enough to weigh has ever existed, so bulk properties for those elements are labelled as predicted on their pages, and astatine and francium are labelled as estimates.
The same figures feed 6 printable sheets, from a landscape wall chart of the whole table to sheets of properties, electron configurations, oxidation states, trends and discovery dates, so a sheet pinned above a desk matches the page it was printed from.
Who is behind it
ChemTable has a single independent developer, who builds and runs it. No textbook publisher, university department or standards body is involved. The same developer runs other single-subject references, including PhysRef, Octet for organic chemistry, CalcRef and StatRise.
ChemTable signs its own guides: there is no individual byline on them, and the schema markup names the site's organization as author. No chemistry degree or teaching qualification is claimed.
What it is not
ChemTable is for revision, not for the bench. It does not replace your course text or syllabus, it does not know which conventions your examiner expects, and it is not a safety reference: hazards, storage and handling belong to the safety data sheet for the actual substance and to whoever runs your lab.
Corrections
If a value looks wrong, email [email protected] with the element, the property and the figure you expected; the correction is made in the dataset, so every page that reads it is fixed together.
